CEO
Joava is the Deputy National Director for the Churches of Scientology Disaster Response. She is also the Founder of Emergency 411.
She is serving as the President of the Utah Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster (UTAHVOAD), Past Vice Chair, and Chair of the National VOAD Communications Committee. She is currently on the National VOAD Communications Committee.
She is a Founding Member of Mountain West VOAD and currently serves as the chair.
She has been part of the Utah State Emergency Response Team, focusing on Volunteer and Donations Management and mass care, since 2009. She is on the feeding task force for the state of Utah.
She has personally been deployed to over 30 major disasters in the US, as well as in Haiti and the Bahamas. She is a specialist in Volunteer and Donation management, as well as logistics and planning. She loves challenges and enjoys helping others.
She started a nonprofit, “Emergency 411”, to help offset the costs that volunteers incur with small stipends when they deploy to disasters or need training, as well as assistance with personal expenses, in the hopes of helping them be more effective, and help longer.
She has won numerous awards for her volunteer work over the years, including the Utah “Volunteer of the Year” from President George W Bush, the “Lifetime Achievement Award”, from President Barack Obama, and the Utah Philanthropic “Hero’s Award” in 2020 as one of 60 volunteers from the state for her work during the pandemic.
Her hobbies are treasure hunting, traveling, crafting, and spending quality time with her family and friends, as well as her Church work.
